another great thriller

Wilson pens another great medical thriller in Donor. People are dying of things that should not kill them. A man's murder is made to look like a suicide. Bodies are disappearing from the morgue. Dr. Michael Sims intends to find out what is going on, and along the way, uncovers a scheme so diabolical that even law enforcement doesn't want to believe it. This book, like all of Wilson's medical suspense books, will keep you reading until the last page and also give you second thoughts about going to the hospital for something minor.

Excellent, but not as good as Game Plan

It's terrible when I think a book is great, and it is, but still not as good as Wilson's latest, Game Plan. Funny thing, I basically thought the same thing about Embryo, another of his books, that it was very good, but not quite as good as Donor. Cliche--but he just keeps getting better and better.

a great thriller

The story takes place in Mississippi. In the coastal town Biloxi, patients of Dr. Michael Sims are lost and sinister things are happening in the hospital. The other main character, Shannon Donnelly, tries to prove that her father, a congressman, did not commit suicide, but was murdered. With 'Donor' author Charles Wilson again shows himself to be a master of the medical thriller. Just like his excellent 'Embryo', this is a fast paced novel, well plotted indeed. If you firmly believe that a hospital is a safe place where sick people most of the time get well then 'Donor' will really scare you! The interesting thing about the book is that this, or something similar, really could happen in the near future. The novel shows how advances in medical science could backfire.

Powerful thriller

For the most part, Dr. Michael Sims enjoys working the emergency room at Biloxi Regional Hospital in Mississippi, but occasionally a patient's case eats at his soul. While Michael deals with such an incident, Harrison County Sheriff Everette and a FBI agent investigate the death of Congressman Donnelly, who left a note before apparently committing suicide. His daughter Shannon firmly believes her father was murdered, but the law enforcement officials and Dr. Joseph Marzullo insist he killed himself. That night Senator Terry asks Michael to run for Donnelly's vacant seat. Just after that, Michael meets Shannon, who insists someone cold-bloodedly and with purpose killed her father. He does not believe her theory until several incidents occur. Especially hitting home is the sudden unexpected death of a recovering teenage patient. Michael and Shannon join forces to uncover the truth. However, they quickly crash into a medical experiment supported by the highest levels of individuals in government, people that have no compunction in killing anyone in their paths.Charles Wilson takes the seemingly impossible and turns it into an everyday happening that rings so genuine readers will be to frightened to visit ERs or even doctors. His latest medical thriller DONOR is a terrorizing tale in which the audience knows the bad guys early on but can still feels the rising tension that threatens to engulf the reader. The story line is filled with action, but it is the feel of reality that makes this novel such a winner. The lead characters are an engaging pair, but it is the cold villain who makes this book into a one-sitting cardiac arrest tale.Harriet Klausner

A scientific thriller filled with suspense, mystery & more.

Something is twisted in Biloxi, Mississippi, and it's not just the politicians.DONOR is a spectacular scientific thriller filled with suspense, mystery and intrigue. Charles Wilson's well researched and plausible plot takes off like a bullet--then twists and turns its way to a finale that is quite stunning. He keeps the reader entertained from start to finish with subplots and characters that are often bizarre, yet still believable. The character of Dr. Michael Sims, in particular, moves easily between the ER of Biloxi General Hospital, his home on a Gulfstar trawler, playing detective sidekick to lawyer Shannon Donnelly, and visits to the nefarious Waverly Research Center. His being manipulated into running to fill the shoes of the recently deceased Congressman Donnelly seems a most natural development that proves crucial to tying together the many plotlines. If you like Robin Cook, Stephen King and John Grisham--you can get the best of all genre's in Charles Wilson's latest! Highly Recommended.
