Some build nests, some dig tunnels, others weave webs. Every living being gives free rein to its constructive instincts according to its nature. Humans, as terrestrial mammals, are no exception: in order to feel truly self-realized, they need to build themselves a home, be it a thatched hut, a luxurious mansion or an 80-story skyscraper. But how many, nowadays, can afford to do that? Alas, very few. This book offers a simple solution to solve this problem and regain one's creative spirit.

The DOMUS project is a 1:50 scale construction of an imaginary 14th century aristocratic palace, chronicled by the author on the blog of the same name. This book, the first in the series, collects the chapters concerning the construction of the basement, from the concrete base to the cellar vaults, entirely revised and enriched with new graphic and textual content.
The assembly of walls, arches, vaults and all the other elements is described page by page as in a real diary, making this book a valuable tool for those who want to try their hand at their own project, or simply observe the construction site from a vantage point.
