Doggone Funny

I indeed felt fortunate to stumble across this book while looking for a gift for a dog loving friend. The poems are great, but the art is wonderful! The artist has a wit all of her own which I think exceeds the value of the poems. Funny - the 'Dog Poop Detector Shoes' are hilarious, Classic - the dog riding in the car with the window down and his tongue flapping in the breeze, Scary - I can feel the adrenalin as I view the print of the dog chasing the biker, and Beautiful - the dog bath print is particularly nice. Part folk-art, part scathing wit, this artist's unsentimental portrayal of dogs shows that she has really lived with dogs.

The poems range from serious to whimsical, but the art is the reason to buy this book. a very affordable way to collect great art. i recommend this book as a gift for dog people and art people.
