In a world infested with giant bugs called Vermin, Adam is an all-too-obedient boy living in poverty with his little brother and his abusive father, surviving debt collectors while trying to find a way to escape this life. That's when he gets a job offer as a cook at GAOP HQ, the organization in charge of defending humanity using Titans, sentient giant Mech suits whose pilots are called Angels, but in a freak accident, he ends up irreversibly linking up with the Titan Moonshine.

Adam is then forced into becoming an Angel. For anyone else, it would be a dream come true, but he hates it. He hates fighting, he hates giant bugs, and he is wary of Moonshine, as she slowly starts to show obsessive tendencies, making increasingly aggressive romantic advances on him.

He then learns his fears are not unfounded, after Moonshine confesses she murdered another angel so she could be with Adam instead. Not only does he have to worry about fighting vermin, his Titan is out to get him too, she may trap him forever, she may hurt everyone he loves. Nobody believes a Titan would do something like that, he's alone in this. Now he must learn to make his own choices if he's to save himself... before he forever becomes hers.
