Cyber Trouble in WWII London

Before I get into the review, I got the original 1997 version of the book, not the 2014 reprint.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the only Past Doctor Adventure that features the Cybermen as baddies and I thought they were portrayed well. The premise behind the book, which has the Cybermen in London during the height of WWII, is interesting enough. Along with the Cybermen, I also liked two of the supporting characters, which are Cody McBride, an ex-American detective who is in London now in the hopes of finding business there, and Mullen, an Irishmen who is the chief inspector of the special branch. While these two don't start the book in the best of relationships, they become friends by the end. I liked watching the character's journeys through the novel, to the point where I hope to see them in future books. Also, the Doctor and Ace acted like they their TV personas and it felt like an actual story that appeared on television.
In short, the writers of the book, Mike Tucker and Robert Perry, wrote a story that kept me hooked through every page. The authors split the book into four parts, which I rather liked, as it made me feel like it was a novelization of a story that appeared on TV. In fact, "Illegal Alien" was actually supposed to be a part of the 1990 season of Doctor Who if it had not been canceled.
For those who have read "Illegal Alien", another book, "Loving the Alien", serves as a sequel and is written by the same authors with an equally interesting premise.
I definitely would recommend this book to fellow Whovians. I look forward to reading the next book by these authors, which is "Matrix".
