In December, 2010, the birth of the "Arab Spring" happens in Tunisia - reflecting the universal thirst for freedom from tyranny. But the spring is stillborn for virtually every other attempt in Muslim majority nations. Can true freedom be found in Muhammad, whom all Muslims are called to imitate? And how well do Muslims understand the historical Muhammad? For example: * Muhammad uses the Qur'an to silence any questions, and the angel Jibril kills those whom Muhammad curses.* Muhammad receives religious liberty from polytheists, Christians and Jews; but does not honor it for them.* Muhammad's treaty with the Jews is a one-way dictation, and he personally beheads 600-900 Jewish men who refuse to convert.* Muhammad unilaterally breaks treaties with polytheists, he prohibits friendships with any Jew, and then calls for any Jew to be killed.* Muhammad calls for jihad against Christians because they believe Jesus is the Son of God.* Muhammad's face changes color in anger at questions posed of him, and the angel Jibril has to restrain him.* Muhammad uses shame to enforce the obedience of Muslims.* Muhammad orders the assassinations of at least thirty of his enemies, including a singing girl, a woman poet and other poets who "insult" him.* Muhammad orders the torture of a Jew who will not reveal where his treasure is hidden.* Muhammad bribes polytheist leaders to enter Islam.* Muhammad's right hand man and later the first caliph in Islam, Abu Bakr, sums it up: "[Allah] sent Muhammad with his religion and he strove for it until men accepted it voluntarily or by force." The source for these examples is the most ancient, extant and authoritative biographer of Muhammad in Islam - Ibn Ishaq. As a Christian, I welcome the toughest questions that Muslims might pose of Jesus. In these pages, I also set Jesus side-by-side with these stories in Muhammad's life, and then look at how Jesus advances religious, political and economic liberty for all people equally. Thus, these pages are an exercise in informed choice and honest questions. Where is the universal thirst for freedom found?
