On My Fourth Copy

I've used Franklin, Daytimer, and specialized project planners while in corporate work, but never found them to transition very well to home, freelance or contract work. Instead, I ended up with a hodgepodge of systems. Then I discovered Croce's journal. Some of the great features include the following: 1. The date is blank and the "action plan" has space for over 20 entries. This made the journal extremely flexible. I can use a 2-page section for one day OR for a single project that spans several days. 2. "Follow-up Names & Numbers" is included in each 2-page section. Croce recommends adding the names and contact information to your regular address book at the end of each day. However, I found that this planner saved me from adding names that weren't keepers; e.g. contacts that were only good for one project. Two caveats: 1. The planner used to come with a glossy cover accented by eye-catching gold accents. Now it's a dull matte. You may want to put stickers, a wrapping-paper cover, or something else on it so it stands out from the various black binders that tend to accumulate in one's office. 2. The journal doesn't contain a calendar.

Good book for to-do lists

I've been through a few copies of this book and have found it very useful (especially when used in conjunction with my blackberry/palm pilot/any electronic gizmo of the moment). When I finish one, I label it on the binding with the dates of use and file it. Turns out to be a great little journal.

This book put me back on track.

This book has gotten me through one of the most awful times of my life. I was unemployed for a few months this year and finally landed a job in something completely irrelevant. This job become my nightmare. I finished college and fell into a recession and got utterly depressed. I bought this book and I have used it everyday that I have been at this job. It got me through the awful days and this tuesday is my last day there. I got a new job I start this week where I have been dying to work. I truly believe using this book as a daily action plan will truly guarantee you success. It helped me with my career but most importantly making it though each day when things are not completely in your control. Thanks Pat Croce!!!!!! what a great idea!

I received this "journal" as a Christmas gift from my sister. I wasn't totally sure I'd be able to keep with the system, but I decided to give it a try. It works so well! It's not really a journal, more of a day planner, but with a different twist. It really helps me keep track of what has to be done in a given day, and when. I don't usually have a lot of appointments scheduled during the day, but I do have a lot of errands and different things that need to get done, and this book helps me make sure I don't forget any. The only thing I don't like is, it only has space for about a month and a half if you use a page for each day. With that in mind, once you get the idea of the system, you're better off getting a notebook and using the same format without the fancy journal. If he came out with a bigger version that would actually hold a whole year, or six months or something, I'd buy it, but buying a new book every month is totally impractical. But definitely buy this to get started! You'll wonder how you ever kept tabs on all your tasks and errands without it!
