The Element

I ordered two of these books as graduation presents. They were delivered very promptly.

Cool World Atlas

I think that this book will be a good book for my teacher because each year we study Brazil, Kenya, and China and because it has got to be a good book if it is compact.

A Great Atlas for the Home

Every home should have a world atlas. After looking at several, I chose this one and I am very pleased with it. I purchased it approximately one month ago, and I have used it several times since then. In addition to the maps, there is a section on each country that contain facts such as: population, languages, religions, ethnic mix, calorie consumption, and other information. A section on geographic comparisons is also included and is very interesting. I am currently reading My Father's Paradise: A Son's Search for His Jewish Past in Kurdish Iraq and have used this atlas to find where Zakho is located in Iraq. Having never traveled internationally, I find it very interesting to read about other countries, but often like to look them up to see where cities and regions are located, and how countries are located in relation to each other. It makes a book come to life if you can actually track the story by using an atlas. The compact size of this atlas makes it handy to keep on an end table with other reading material.

nuns like it too!

I bought the large version of this atlas a few years ago, but after trying to carry it to my geography class for several days, I decided to buy the compact atlas. The maps are detailed and almost artistic. The facts section in the back makes finding quick statistics about countries simple. A few days ago, one of the sisters at our school asked me if I could buy her a copy, so I'm ordering one for her now. She called it "beautiful".

Lightweight

With everything going on in the world these days, you can help your children understand world events as they happen by showing them were countries are in this very compact World Atlas. Even the small print was easy for me to read. While the Dorling Kindersley World Atlas is a much larger version, I prefer this one for looking up just a country or two. If you want a more detailed and almost encyclopedic treatment of the world, you could look up ISBN:078945620. This size is much lighter and is easy for children to use. It is useful for school projects and you can look up each countries flag (and statistics) or look up a country of interest in the easy-to-use Index. The inside front and back covers have a "key" to the Map Pages. So, if you are looking up countries in the Middle East, you would look on page 98. That is a great feature. Perfect to keep in the family TV room.
