Remembering that a book's worth is about its contents, this is the most helpful thing I ever picked up for my divorce. The emphasis Halverson and Kydd make is in the word "humane," where my wife and I were definitely going the other way. This helped us bring it back to focus and get the job done without all the sparring lawyers. It's a reminder, in a step-by-step format with lots of useful discussion, that really the two of us were in charge, not them. Definitely pick up the book if you can still find it!
Halverson was NOT THE ONLY AUTHOR!

Not sure where the other reviewer was coming from, but it sure sounds like he had a personal axe to grind of some sort. All I can say is that this book led me to hire John Kydd to represent me in my divorce proceedings and I'm not sorry I did. There were *two authors* to this book, and to give it one star because one of the authors later got into legal trouble himself seems unfair. The book *is* a useful reference tool if you want to divorce but don't want to do so bitterly and to the last dollar and/or drop of blood. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Attorney Kydd was not disbarred, and he seems squeaky clean ethically, and frankly, he's a nice man and a good attorney. Give the book a chance.
