A Great Book For Learning Distributed PowerBuilder

A wonderful book that finally fills in the gap left open by most other PowerBuilder books. The first few chapters give a great overview of distributed powerbuilder. From there the book goes on to give an indepth description of how distributed computing relates to PowerBuilder. Code examples are given constantly throughout the book so that you can see what exactly is going on in the author's head. The book concludes with chapters that deal with intergrating PowerBuilder with Jaquar and COM. A must read for PowerBuilder developers who are looking to make the leap from Client/Server to Distributed Computing.

This is a great book for learning how to do distributed PowerBuilder development. The first part of the book gives a great overview of distributed architecture and why you would use it. Then the book walks you through a basic (Hello World) example and builds on that. Source code is available from the publishers web site. It is very helpful. For the price of the book, you can actually have a prebuilt Server Application. More focus could be given to Web-PB, but I think Mike might be writing another book on that. This book is highly recommended!!!

This book is absolutely fantastic. It starts out assuming practically nothing. It gives a good explanation of the concepts of TCP/IP that the PowerBuilder programmer needs to know and proceeds from there. If you are going to do ANY multi-tier architecture applications then you absolutely must have this book
