The rebellion spreads to Laghouat, whose rulers, loyal to the French, are imprisoned by the rebels, so Abdelal and his comrades take part in the campaign to recapture the town. During the siege, both personal and larger conflicts are finally resolved. C.R. Coster worked as a librarian and researcher for many years. He is currently working on the sequel to Distant Trumpets, which will see Abdelal and his regiment pitted against the might of Tsarist Russia during the Crimean War.
