Disrupted Selves

By: Rana, Mahrukh

In a world fragmented by colonization, globalization, and shifting cultural narratives, Disrupted Selves delves into the layered complexities of identity and gender as constructed-and deconstructed-through postcolonial and postmodern lenses. This thought-provoking volume unravels how literature becomes a site of resistance, negotiation, and transformation for marginalized voices navigating the borders of nation, self, and society. Bridging critical theory with close literary analysis, the research explores how postmodern narrative forms reflect and reinforce the fractured realities of postcolonial subjects, especially women. Through nuanced readings of contemporary short stories, this work interrogates the interplay of language, silence, memory, and power-revealing how disrupted selves speak through fragmented texts., students, and readers interested in literary theory, cultural studies, and feminist/postcolonial critique.
