I only wish Carey Simon would write a similar book about northern California....I felt so grateful for this handbook last summer when our family spent two weeks in southern California...especially helpful were the strategies regarding how to navigate the amusement parks; it saved us alot of time trying to figure everything out on our own. Her reviews of accomadations were particularly helpful when deciding where to stay near Disney and Univeral Studios (Disneyland Hotel was worth the money!).
Disneyland and Southern California with Kids 2000-2001

I bought the 2000-2001 edition of this book for my second trip to Disneyland. I bought the 1998 edition the first time we went, and found it indispensable. This version was even better. Because of the descriptions of Legoland and the San Diego Zoo, we added two days to our trip and visited them. My husband especially liked the sections on Disneyland because they weren't so huge that we had to go back and forth to get any information. I like how the author describes the scariness of the rides, because she knows that kids are different about what does and doesn't scare them. My five-year-old loves to ride rollercoasters with his Dad, but my seven-year-old throws up just looking at them.
