Rev Caern dreams of being a mage, or powerful lord, despite his rough life in the slums of ancient Shendasan. But when a brutal army of goblen invades, even Rev's countless schemes and dreams aren't enough to protect him, his family and friends. Soon, the goblen start hunting Rev, tying him to the eerie Disk of Dragons, an ancient magical Artifact. Worse, the Disk starts contacting him in visions. Rev has to flee his homeland, alongside his best friend, the Ruskiya orcen Dan Zee. Ruskiya orcen are brave in the face of doom, but can be annoyingly honest. Cheerful Rev reassures the more doubtful Dan that things will improve. Sure enough, Rev becomes peacekeeper in a small town, a strange job for a former thief. But when a citizen is murdered through a brutal spell, Rev must then find the dangerous killer, and he himself becomes a target for murder. He starts wondering about the dangers and mysteries of his new home. Something more is going on, here.

Rev fears the goblen are behind the violence, but the brilliant and beautiful mage Gabryal suspects Rev himself. This makes courting her complicated, but he is not easily daunted, and works to win her heart. But to catch the killer and protect the town from the advancing goblen, Rev must rally the townsfolk, find and master the Disk of Dragons... and admit his own darkest secret.

Unfortunately, he learns the goblen do not act on their own. A terrible evil is on the rise, and someone has to face the growing plots of demons, dragons, and an evil god.
