Good classroom tool

Teachers looking for help setting up a classroom and developing lessons for introducing children to the outdoor world will find what they need in "Discovering Nature with Young Children: Part of the Young Scientist Series." There are plenty of specific ideas, such as showing children how to observe nature, setting up a terrarium, or growing plants. But the book, part of the Young Scientist series, also makes a strong pitch for good scientific education for young children, emphasizing the advantages and value of hands-on experiences. This works best as an overview and a way for teachers to get the conversation going on how to incorporate science into any classroom.

A Great book for the Early Childhood Classroom

This book helps you look at the big picture from beginning to end. Nature should exist in the classroom all year around. I love the open ended growing activities and setting up a growing center. I'm in the process of doing this in my classroom and the children love it. Check out their other books on structures and water too!
