I had a blast reading this book. I had borrowed it from a friend, hoping that the anecdotes would add spice and interest to my home-schooled son's study of American History. And they really did! This is the type of book you can enjoy a few pages at a time, or devour all at once. Most enjoyable! I especially enjoyed reading about New York City's "Moving Day in May." Apparently it was the custom from Colonial times until the late nineteenth century for all renters in the city seeking new lodgings to move on May Day. You can imagine the pandemonium!
