Dave the walrus adores disco. The booming bass drums and blasting brass horns. The glittery globes and shiny shirts. And especially the dances
He loves The Bump. The Funky Chicken. Even The Robot Far out He can't wait to groove all night long
But when Dave actually hits the dance floor . . . catastrophe Crashes, slips, and all the wrong types of booms. Dave doesn't want to give up though--disco is in his soul He refuses to let it die He practices and practices . . . but maybe flippers and tusks just aren't made for disco. His friends try to break it to him gently. Maybe he'd be better at the waltz? He's almost ready to give up his bell bottoms and platform shoes and call it quits when something sends the disco community into an uproar. Maybe there's another way for Dave to find the funk?
Included is a reader's note for adults on talking to children about resilience, self-expression, and adaptability in the face of challenges. Sometimes things don't work out exactly the way we hoped . . . but sometimes that's even better
