It started with a simple 'Yes' as a teenage Mary received and responded to God's invitation. Mother Mary's 'Yes' is modeled perfectly in her love and servitude...but saying 'Yes' to God is not exclusively reserved for the godly. God wants your 'Yes' to embrace the life He is calling you to live.

God has a plan for you. I'm not sure what it is; you'll have to figure it out but God has a plan for your life.

This was my last conversation with my youngest sister Kaitlyn, when she shared that she and her husband just found out they were expecting their third child. This was followed by "I love you."

Those were the last words. The last conversation. This is where we continue that dialogue.

Only a week later during Advent -- a season of Faith, Hope, Peace, Joy, Love -- Kaitlyn was in an auto accident. She was declared brain dead with no coherent time to say goodbye. Her organs were donated on the feast day of Saint Nicholas, December 6, which also happened to be my grandfather's 90th birthday. That was also his last birthday, as he passed away months later.

Advent crystallized a new purpose for me personally in preparing for Christ during this season. This time, it was about more than just Jesus's birthday in a manger...it birthed new room in the inn of my heart to prepare for His second coming, and sharing God's providence through triumph and trial.
