This novel is based on the Niger Delta crisis in the South-South Geo-political Zone of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in West Africa. It is an attempt to tell our own stories, not only, to ourselves, but also, to the international community. It is also an attempt to look at the issues in our environment from a different perspective. To shed more light on a social conflict that has lasted for decades. An opportunity to proffer new ideas and exciting solutions, to a, seemingly, intractable problem, with a view to finding meaningful and lasting solutions to it. It is an attempt to correct the wrongs of the past, with a view to stimulating real development in the Niger Delta. It is also an attempt to provoke a shift in the thinking of our leaders and people about conflict resolution strategies and other possible avenues through which lasting solutions could be arrived at. An attempt to look at a social conflict from a fresh angle, with a view to exploring new avenues through which acceptable and enduring solutions can be found. It is an attempt to present a story that is socially impactful and socially relevant. In particular, it is an attempt to explain the issues that led to the crises in the Niger Delta region of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with a view to creating a better understanding in the minds of people around the world about the conflict in that part of the world. It is also an attempt to draw the attention of the international community to the crises in the region, with a view to getting it involved in the search for meaningful and useful solutions aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. It is also an attempt to engender the spirit of unity among the various ethnic groups in the country, through the promotion of those things that unite us, as a nation, rather than those things that divide us. In other words, it is an attempt to promote unity and faith, peace and progress, in a nation that is, constantly threatened by the lack of unity, mutual suspicion, unending conflicts and systematic retrogression. It is also an attempt to steer the country away from decades of socio-economic and political backwardness, to a more reliable and sustainable socio-economic and political development. Finally, it is an attempt to engender debate, discussions, commentary, opinions, and cross-fertilization of ideas about the crises in the Niger Delta, and its implications for the socio-economic and political development of Nigeria, among readers in Nigeria and beyond.
