he Dinka language is an old language. It is coeval with the recorded history, and even beyond. However, it has been used largely orally since. Fortunately, committing it to writing has began though this uncoordinated effort goes back to only the last 100 years or so. Although it is a language rich in figures of speech, carrying tremendous wisdom and culture, its rich traditions remain largely unrecorded in modern times and are, unfortunately, currently fast fading away. However, with the need to train the young, including my own, as has been the practice, I took pen to paper and started collecting and compiling its various writing systems from all its sections. This booklet compiles, codifies and presents the Dinka Language Alphabet in a way as to make its writing system user-friendly and adaptable for the younger generation. The book traces the development of the Dinka writing system to the Rejaf Language Conference of 1928, the subsequent development since and suggests the best consolidated alphabet system that allows the Dinka language to compete on the world stage.
