The beginning and the best of “Die Hard” movies.

Mild-mannered NTPD police officer, John McClane (Bruce Willis), is invited to a California Christmas party. Little did we know that other people invited themselves to the millions of bearer bonds stashed in the vault in the same building. A bearer bond is owned by the holder rather than by a registered owner. His wife, Holly Gennaro McClane (Bonnie Bedelia), and several others were taken hostage by the German terrorists; the head of which is Hans Gruber, excellently played by Alan Rickman. Now John McClane must thwart the thieving cabal at every turn and, with any luck, free the hostages. Even though this is a Bruce Willis action movie, Alan Rickman and his expressions make the movie work. There is a scene where Alan Rickman falls out of a window. While filming the scene, they let him fall before he counted to three, so the surprised look is real. See Alan Rickman again in “Galaxy Quest.”
