Die Bonsmara se Hare is a short Afrikaans children's book. The story follows the journey of a farmer from drought to riches through the eyes of his young daughter. Amidst a bad drought one of their bulls starts to grow blonde curly hair. Rather than auctioning the bull off the famer realises that he can make a magical tonic for hair growth. The unusual origin of this miracle tonic is unbeknown to his grateful customers, who fill the farm queuing to buy the shampoo. The story is written in a playful rhyme with illustrations themed on the landscape of the Eastern Free State.
