Awoke an interest in science and the world around me

The other posters have raised interesting points. This book while not the most accurate in the world, attempts to explain concepts in an easy and approachable way, as a teenage I found this book fascinating.The book provided me with a place to start to explore my interest in the world around me.

Very good...but

There was a bit of information in the book that was as I believe incorrect. The book states:With the end of the commercial use of the Morse Code this year, no sailor will ever again send an "SOS" signal. Those letters, by the way, stood for nothing. They were chosen because 4 dots, 3 dashes, 4 dots were easy to remember, easy to send, and easy to pick up.but - "SOS" actually means "Save Our Souls" so this piece of data or information in incorrect.
