(Vocal Piano). All 12 songs from the album by this smooth-singing jazz songstress, including the title track and: Stop This World * Temptation * Almost Blue * I've Changed My Address * Love Me Like a Man * I'm Pulling Through * Black Crow * Narrow Daylight * Abandoned Masquerade * I'm Coming Through * Departure Bay.
I really liked "Love Me Like a Man" and "Stop This World". The sheet music to these tunes is fun to follow as I listen to the CD. I'm trying to practice the way she does it on the piano. ...Probably will take me a decade to master it. She is quite a jazz piano player. (Cute, too) (:-)
Original Krall solos

The Diana Krall piano score of "The Girl In the Other Room" is heads above any score I've had in the past. It used material that includes solos Krall really plays on her recording. It's challenging and so much better than the watered down versions! Good product.
excellent transcription

Diana Krall's "Girl in the other room" is an excellent album. Miss Krall departs from previous stylings to try her hand at songwriting (many cowritten with husband Elvis Costello). Her playing and singing are top-notch, while the band is fantastic. Although the album was unpopular with some traditional Krall fans used to her previous jazz standards approach, this work has also attracted a new whole new group of fans. The transcription of the piano, voice, and sometimes guitar and bass are well done. Many of the slower originals are thoughtful and introspective, while the blues covers (Stop this World, Love me like a man) really rock. It should be noted that due to the complexity of Diana Krall's playing, this book is for the advanced player. However, it's also a rare insight into the playing of an amazing jazz and blues player.
Accurate transcriptions!

In contrast to those two other diana krall books available, this one has TRANSCRIPTIONS of her pieces - they are not "standards". I took a chance and ordered it and was so happy to find that out. While her overall style is a little different on this album (some of her fans like it - some don't--- I like it), it's a pleasure to play through these pieces. Most of the pieces can be classified as intermediate in terms of the main melody or intro- but they have the transcriptions of her piano solos which are more challenging. Once you work those up to speed - you are definitely looking at an intermediate/advanced pianist. I have those two other piano books (diana krall) -- so for any diana krall fans hesitant to purchase these - you will not be disappointed (as i was w/ those)- these are written in the same key as on her album and are very accurate! Enjoy!
