The purpose of this study is to investigate the occurrence of dialogue in the daily life of the Jo o Sim es Lopes Neto State High School in Turu u/RS, an urban school (in appearance) with the characteristics of a rural school (in essence). The aim is also to raise questions about the factors that interfere with dialogue from Paulo Freire's theoretical perspective. The background or context of the research comes from my experience as an educator in this school, with the aim of highlighting the importance of dialogue in the school community that makes up the Jo o Sim es Lopes Neto School. It shows the limits and constraints present in the daily life of the school community, as well as announcing the potential present in the relationships established with a view to promoting the quality of teaching in rural public schools.
