The Dialogo di pittura (Venice, 1548) is a reaction to the dispute about the Paragone of the arts revived by Benedetto Varchi in 1547 in Florence. Elaborated by a modest Venetian painter, an informed reader of Alberti's De pictura, the treatise is an erudite and diverting defence of painting.
