Since the introduction of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG), hospitals have been receiving less money for treating patients. To support step-by-step diagnostics, diagnostic algorithms were also introduced in almost all countries following the introduction of DRG. This book discusses the following topics: Operation-specific diagnostic algorithms for the diagnosis and progress monitoring of monoclonal gammopathies are defined. The applicability and acceptance of the algorithms are determined by the commissioning physicians. The potential impact on laboratory costs per diagnosis and progression is analysed retrospectively using real laboratory orders. This book is based on the results of my master's thesis.
