This book presents the development of a tool to help doctors during the process of diagnosing Kawasaki Syndrome. Kawasaki Syndrome is a childhood disease that mainly affects children under the age of five and is considered the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in developed countries, surpassing rheumatic fever. There is still no specific diagnostic test capable of proving the presence or absence of the disease. In addition, the disease can manifest itself in a complete form (all compatible symptoms occur) or an incomplete form (only a few symptoms are presented). Given the complexity of diagnosis and the need to help doctors during this process, this paper presents a literature review on the disease and the main Artificial Intelligence technologies applied to health. During the study, it was found that the characteristics of the symptoms presented by the disease, together with the difficulty of diagnosis and the difficulty of intensively acquiring the knowledge of a specialist in the domain of the disease, reflect directly on the use of Case-Based Reasoning to solve the problem.
