A Prescription For The Ho-Hum Relationship

Seldom does there come along a book that can have a positive influence on literally everyone that peruses its pages. But such would seem to be the case with Kathy Dawson's "Diagnosis: Married", as she addresses the issues confronted in virtually all marriages and love relationships. In turn, she provides insight and wisdom, in a most common sense based, easy to understand, and sometimes even comical approach, on methods to enhance even the best of marriages. Unlike many other "self-improvement" books that tend to base their advice on rather sterile, clinical findings, Kathy shares her own personal experiences with her readers, demonstrating that the happiness we all seek in our relationships is well within reach of everyone... and is there for the taking... if we choose to make it happen. And best of all, it can be fun.If you have read and enjoyed Richard Carlson's critically acclaimed book, "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff In Love", you will equally appreciate Kathy Dawson's efforts in "Diagnosis: Marriage", as the format of easy to read, short chapters is shared by both authors. However, Kathy goes that extra mile in concluding each chapter of her book with a "Just Do It" exercise, that challenges the reader to test their new-found knowledge, providing simple suggestions on how to either avoid, or overcome the ruts of complacency that tend to befall even the best of relationships. If one happens to want to support the booming divorce industry, this book is definitely not for them. If, however, one wishes to get optimal enjoyment from their marriage, "Diagnosis: Marriage" should hold a prominent place in every family's personal library.
I thought she was writing about us!

I couldn't believe it. Many times Kathy hit the nail on the head. Some of the marital problems (and solutions) she writes about are almost right out of our very own relationship. There's a lot of good advice right there for the taking for today's hurried and harried couples. She covers various topics in small enough sections to read and discuss at night, in the car, etc. Much lighter, easier to read, and less repetitive than John Gray. Its a great book to leave out on the coffee table and occasionally peruse. No need to 'start at the beginning...', just open it to anywhere and read to your heart's content, or until the kids get home. "Just do it" and watch the sparks fly in your romance.

We have given this book as a gift to a dozen people so far and hope that they learn as much as we have.
