Diablos Danzantes de San Millán - Promesas que se hacen tradición. Cada jueves de Corpus Christi, los Diablos Danzantes de San Millán recorren las calles de Puerto Cabello, en Venezuela, hasta llegar a la iglesia donde rinden veneración y respeto al Santísimo Sacramento a través de una ceremonia plena de religiosidad, fe y devoción en la que pagan sus promesas y celebran el triunfo del bien sobre el mal. Luego, siguen recorriendo las calles de la ciudad, mientras realizan sus danzas al ritmo del cuatro venezolano y del repique de campanas y maracas, vestidos con trajes coloridos, velos, capas y máscaras, y portando varas, látigos y adornos, como cruces, escapularios, rosarios y otros amuletos. Este fotolibro registra en 49 fotografías, tomadas entre 2017 y 2024, la tradición centenaria de la cofradía de los Diablos Danzantes de San Millán, cuyo valor social, cultural y religioso son elementos de la identidad colectiva local, nacional y universal, al ser una de las once cofradías venezolanas de Diablos Danzantes de Corpus Christi que, desde el 6 de diciembre de 2012, forman parte del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad de la UNESCO. Dancing Devils of San Millán - Promises that become a tradition. On the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Dancing Devils of San Millán tour the city, through the streets of Puerto Cabello, in Venezuela, to get to the church where they honor the Blessed Sacrament in a ceremony full of religiosity, faith, and devotion in which they pay their promises and celebrate the victory of good over evil. After that, they continue to walk through the streets while performing traditional dances to the rhythm of the Venezuelan cuatro and to the ringing of bells and maracas, as they wear colorful costumes, veils, capes and masks, and carry rods, whips, and various decorations like crosses, scapulars, rosaries, and other amulets. This photobook records through 49 photographs, taken between 2017 and 2024, the long-standing traditions of the confraternity of the Dancing Devils of San Millán whose social, cultural, and religious values are fundamental to local, national, and global collective identity, being one of the eleven Venezuelan confraternities of Dancing Devils of Corpus Christi that became part of the Unesco's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since December 6, 2012.
