An interesting story

Pierre de Montfort is the last Monfort werewolf, and the werewolf slayers are out gunning for him. A team of experts from the shadowy Institut Scientifique in Europe are in New York to take him out, and their good friend the vampire Ian Morgan is more than willing to help. Ian has a very personal interest in the fate of the werewolf since he's a distant relative and wants to settle the score for all time and remove this stain on the family. The werewolf slayers, Catherine and Paul, have their own involvement with the Montforts, Catherine being Ian's mistress, and Paul is the lover of Julie Buchanan, a descendant of the notorious family. Ian's fascination with Julie raises eyebrows on Catherine's part - before she realizes just what the relationship is - and it isn't what she thinks. The werewolf links all three couples, and the pursuit to bring him to justice -- on their own terms -- brings the reader along on a fast ride. With Pierre turning wilder, more unstable and more murderous after each kill, and the whole metropolitan area living in fear of his next attack, the plot comes to a bang up conclusion with a car chase across state lines and the ultimate confrontation on an airport tarmac where the slayers face an out of control werewolf and a do or die last stand. I loved this book. I found the story of the three couples with their link fascinating, I loved Catherine's cool sophistication with the fire underneath, Ian's tenderness and longing to convert her to vampire status even though she demurs, Paul and Julie's human affection and the dumb prank on her friend's part that made him realize just how much he loved and needed her. I also enjoyed the thread involving the Buchanan family tradition of the mysterious gold coins, and how Ian's affection for her grew from a centuries old memory of undying love. It was terrific. I'd give it four stars.

Interesting Story

This was a good story. Not typically a paranormal reader, this book held my attention all the way through. The characters were well developed and made me wonder what was going to happen next. The author did not receive fair reviews on this book. Try it out.

Devour

Wonderful combination of old world excitement and mystery set on the streets of very chic NY, reminiscent of 1940's movies in a modern day setting. Elizabeth Greene

Devour

I enjoyed this story very much. The characters were memorable and interesting. They stayed with me even after I finished the book. I especially appreciated the sense of place the writer created, recognizing many of the North Jersey spots mentioned as the plot developed. Will there be a sequel? I hope so!

graphic paranormal horror thriller

Paul DuJardin plans to expose fellow Frenchman Pierre du Montfort as a werewolf in a book he is writing. Once he outs Pierre, he feels he and his werewolf slaying partner Catherine Marais will be able to kill the shapechanger. However, Pierre, who has always been able to hide his beastly side with a sophisticated veneer from the purebreds, is outraged that the hunter is outing him and plans to act accordingly. Meanwhile in New York a werewolf is on the rampage with Pierre the prime suspect in the killings. However, their superior tells Paul and Catherine to bring Pierre in alive. For Paul that is made more difficult because he fears the raging werewolf will go after the woman he is falling in love with Professor Julie Buchanan. For Catherine killing the last Montfort werewolf is what she has lived for until she meets two hundred years old vampire Ian Morgan. Although there are two romantic subplots, DEVOUR is more a paranormal horror thriller as Paul and Catherine know the rampaging werewolf must be stopped. The kills are graphic so don't eat before reading this exciting High Noon like tale; reader will anticipate the confrontation between the evil werewolf and the dedicated hunters while wondering whose side the vampire is on; whereas the professor is a pawn or is she in the final altercation. Melina Morel provides a fast-paced horror story that werewolf fans will want to read. Harriet Klausner
