Ensuring the development of future leaders is crucial for the sustainability of any organization, including local churches entrusted with making disciples of Christ. Given the significant roles leaders play in the church, leaving this responsibility to chance can be detrimental. This project was born from my deep conviction that church leaders should undergo intentional and meaningful preparation. In the New Testament Church of God in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Administrative Bishop determines the appointment of lead-pastors. However, some lead-pastors have admitted that, upon their appointment, they had little to no formal or informal training and were forced to learn on the job. As a result, they made avoidable mistakes that could have been prevented with prior mentorship or coaching. To address this issue, this project aims to develop a structured mentorship roadmap that lead-pastors can use to train and guide prospective pastors before their official appointments. The hypothesis that implementing a mentorship program would help senior pastors in the New Testament Church of God in St. Vincent and the Grenadines assist young ministers in discerning and fulfilling their calling is a good place to begin. The project has two primary phases: training mentors and or coaches and facilitating a four-month mentorship program. The results strongly support the hypothesis. Mentors and coaches reported an increase in confidence regarding their ability to guide emerging leaders and express a deeper depth of commitment to ongoing mentorship. Likewise, mentees found the program valuable, stating that they felt more prepared for pastoral responsibilities and hoped for continued mentorship opportunities.
