People experiencing mental health problems often face difficulties that are different from those faced by most of the other people. Although appropriate and timely treatment might help them to lessen the concerns however they may continue to experience some difficulties in certain areas of life. With the advent of the new generation antipsychotics very few of them may need institutional care; however theybrequire support to maintain in the community thus requiring various models of community-based care. Many approaches have been introduced in theWest that help in minimising the symptoms, preventing relapse, increasing independence from services, optimizing social roles, preventing hospital admissions, improving quality of life, improving social skills and accessing facilities, activities and relationships in the community.
