A collection of techniques for destroying a variety of hazardous chemicals

As if you couldn't guess, this is a textbook; it has the standard structure of a textbook, everything is laid out in logical order. The introduction and the further reading references are almost worth the price of the book itself. There are some unique indices in the back of the book, which I found myself actually slowing down and reading like a novel. I was especially interested in the pharmaceutical names and cross-referenced index, as I worked in the pharmaceutical industry at one time. I didn't work in the laboratory, but I did work with hazmat and environmental control. I worked in the aerospace industry, where we set up a lot of chem-milling and high-pressure rooms that contained Dow chemicals and fire tube furnaces that used corrosive materials. I also had NBC hazmat courses in the military. I found this book to be more specific on not only the chemicals that it describes the actual destruction procedures and principles of decontamination. I am embarrassed to say that I only recognize a fraction of the chemicals, but am amazed at how detailed this book is. Yes, it's targeted towards a specific group, as you can tell from the title; however, I can see it also is being very useful to parallel disciplines, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to peruse this book. One last observation is that most books expect you to have an extensive background to build on. This book is no different, but it does take the time to slow down to help you gain enough background to make what you learn here practical.
