After losing their parents in a tragic accident, Janell did not want to see her sister Theresa sad and lonely anymore. Theresa's previous relationship was an abusive one. Her ex boyfriend was an alcoholic. He abused her physically and mentally. Janell wanted to introduce her sister to a nice guy. Janell and her husband Chris decided to introduce Theresa to his new coworker Mike.

Chris only knew Mike from work. He didn't know much about him. He was new in town. After being in an abusive relationship, Theresa had certain standards and boundaries about the kind of guys she would date. She thought that Mike was a straight and narrow guy who earned a decent salary at the shop. Theresa started to date Mike and fell in love. What she didn't know was he had a side hustle. Mike kept it a secret from Theresa, that he pulled licks for a living, with his partner Kevin. Theresa was constantly in her head about where his extra spending money was coming from.

His lifestyle didn't match his income. She couldn't figure out how he could afford such expensive dates. Her intuition was telling her that he was into something really bad. One of his licks that he pulled with Kevin went sour. It caused havoc on all of their lives. This hook up turned from meeting the guy of her dreams, to experiencing her worst nightmare.
