Desire Untamed is such an intense book full of danger, passion, and magic that my synopsis cannot even come close to doing the full story justice. Also, since it is the first book in the new Feral Warriors series, we are subject to a lot of world-building, but Pamela Palmer does this brilliantly. There are no information dumps here, which drive me crazy in paranormals and urban fantasies. Everything is explained in bits and pieces throughout the book to the heroine, Kara, since up until Lyon comes and kidnaps her she has no idea what she truly is. Desire Untamed is a dark story, no doubt about that, with an ancient war between the Mage and the Therian ongoing for thousands of years. They joined forces once hundreds of years ago to defeat Satanan, giving up much of their respective powers to the cause, but hatred runs deep. Each side hopes the day will soon come to give them the edge to defeat their enemies forever. We have some shocking revelations come about here that turn the story upside down and give us a very good indication of what is to follow in future books in the series. Kara and Lyon's passion for one another defies everything Lyon has believed for centuries. This leads to some intense conflict as they fight their attraction when all they want to do is claim their mate in each other no matter what it may do to their cause. This tension just adds fuel to the fire and when these two finally discover a way to be together, we know the result will be a conflagration intense enough to rival the Radiant's fire. Excellent new series

I happened to get a review copy of this book months ago and wound up reading it really early. I just loved it. All the characters were strong, but hero and heroine are a perfect match. The hero is definitely a strong, sexy, alpha male type. Lyon will stop at nothing to save his group of shape-shifter warriors. He needs Kara's help in saving not only his kind, but all of humanity, as well. Kara is raised as a human. It is only when she meets Lyon that she finds out that there were a few things her mother forgot to tell her. Quickly she is thrust into a world nothing like the small town she is from. This world has demons, mages and men who turn into different types of animals. It might be just a nightmare, but it is all two real. The story line is filled with suspense and action. The plot complicated with a lot of sub characters, but easy to grasp. Pamela Palmers imagination really runs wild in this series and that is all the better for the readers. I re-read the story a second time last night to familiarize myself with it again and wasn't disappointed by it in the least.

The Therians, along with their animal counterparts, the Feral Warriors, have been protecting the uninformed world from evil beings known as draden for hundreds of years. They guard the Daemon blade in their possession because to lose it would mean giving the draden hordes the ability to free their vile leader, Satanan. The Feral Warriors' numbers have dwindled to almost nothing - nine warriors are all that is left standing between good and evil but they have not been unaffected. Their Radiant, the woman they need to channel their energy to shape shift, has died and without her they are unable to shift and these alpha males grow more animalistic with each sunrise. When the ritual they invoke to find their Radiant reveals her presence, Lyon, the leader of the warriors volunteers to bring the newly found Radiant home to their compound. Lyon, with the king of the jungle shifting in his veins, is surprised to find that the Radiant he and his warriors need has been raised as a human and has no idea how important she will become - especially to him. Kara MacAllister's life changes in an instant when she finds a huge man in her home. Taking care of her mother, Kara grows more despondent as her mother's health worsens. She is having a hard time concentrating and is unable to settle her moods. Further angered by the striking man's adamant orders to leave with him, Kara doesn't know why her heart races or why just the touch of this man alone seems to calm her. With visions of lust, warriors, and seemingly the whole world's weight on her shoulders, Kara finally leaves with him - she needs answers, right? Only the answers she and Lyon find are far from what they both desire. With malevolence afoot and nine warriors barely holding onto their humanity, Kara must learn her duties as the Radiant to save not only herself, but the man and his band of warriors from succumbing to the malevolence that is trying to break free inside of them. Lyon, or Roar as his fellow warriors call him, is earthy and a true leader. Loyal and a steadfast leader, Lyon knows that Kara is his - and for that alone I loved him. Circumstances were not as they seemed and when Kara and he finally give in to the lust that has been raging through their bodies for days, the results were scorching hot. Each touch, each caress, and each kiss they shared combined their souls. Kara was an extremely strong female character. Thrown into a world she did not understand, I found her brave and curious. Her attraction to Lyon was undeniable, pure and simple. She loved her lion and with clear resolve knew that she had to help him. DESIRE UNTAMED is a strong first release to this tantalizing and animalistic series. Each character's name is a clue as to which animal they are able to become when shifted. The men strive to be close but each is so very different that I found it almost overwhelming to keep up with them - however, that didn't detract from my enjoyment of DESIRE UNTAMED.

Outstanding start to Feral Warrior series

DESIRE UNTAMED by Pamela Palmer, first in the Feral Warriors series is out June 30th, 2009! I discovered Pamela Palmer's books with her Nocturne series (I recommend these too!). So when I saw this series coming too along with her time travels as Pamela Montgomerie I've been elated since! The Feral Warriors are a race of 9 surviving Therians. Therians are an immortal shape shifters that are out there to protect their race as well as humans from Daemons. Daemons are evil! They try to take the power from the Feral Warriors and use the power wrong (bad ways). So these 9 Feral Warriors try to keep the Daemons at a minimum. The Feral Warriors need energy from the earth to shape shift. They get this energy from a Therian called A Radiant who is female. A Radiant gives the 9 Feral Warriors strength through energy that she radiant to them so they can shape shift and fight. The Feral Warriors use their strength to take out the Daemons. There are also Mages that use magic but they are rivals of the Feral Warriors. Once I got into this series, it was so smooth sailing on this 'world this author created. I was understanding from the first page on. Author Pamela Palmer so gives this series a visual picture of everything! Too her site has an area devoted to this series that explains this all along with the characters. The 9 Feral Warriors are 9 different shape shifters. The first book is starts where their past Radiant has died and they need a Radiant. The longer they don't shape shift, the worse each of these Feral Warriors get (they go 'into their skin', in other words, their animal comes out in their fighting mode and they fight among their Feral Warriors friends. Lyon, is the leader among the Feral Warriors. You will love the names this author created for each of the 9 Feral Warriors! I love Lyon but too I'm in love with many of them, especially Tighe and Paenther. And yes, the names are similar, sometimes, to what they shape shift to. Since these Feral Warriors need a Radiant to get stronger, As a leader of the Feral Warriors, Lyon leads the Feral Warriors to a ritual that binds one of them as a mate to the Radiant Kara. Kara, their Radiant, is living among humans and she has no ideas she's of the Therian's race. When she's taken to learn her skills as a Radiant, she is resistant to this whole cause being so new and so much change for her.Too she has falling in love with Lyon but he's appears through the ritual, not designated to be her mate. This author will take you through this whole process that will lead to a beautiful HEA and too set you up to anticipate every one of the Feral Warriors HEA. The romance and passion between Lyon and Kara is intense, romantic and sizzling! I for one so can't wait for their books! Great thing is that book two, OBSESSION UNTAMED is out the end of July and the 3rd book, PASSION UNTAMED is out at the end of August. So we'll have the treat of 3 books in a row (plus her Time Travel as Pamela Montgomerie SAPPHIRE DREAMS
