A true story of Medieval Times

This is a great story, as was Lady Outlaw which is a tie-in to this book. It gives an accurate portrayal of what life was like for women in the middle ages when reading was a luxury! Kendra is a peasant whose sister dies giving birth to the child of a brutal overlord. When Kendra tries to get revenge on de Bron she is nearly put to death. A young cleric, Geoffrey, brother to the hated deBron, saves her life. King Henry II gives Kendra to the young de Bron. It is an act that completely changes Geoffrey's life. He is forced to choose between his love for Kendra and his loyalty to Thomas Becket. This is an unusual time setting and skillfully weaves the story of Henry II and Saint Thomas Becket in a beautifully written romance. It is a keeper.
