Sure it has a few flaws, but MY GOODNESS the CREATIVTY! the SYLISHNESS! these SWEATERS!

I agree with other knitters here that the lack of yarn amounts in this book is a big pain, as are the teeny sizes, which will have to be adjusted to fit my robust body. But the AMAZING SPIRIT of this book should not be overlooked. You are encouraged all along the way to blend your own combinations of yarns, and to modify basic patterns to fit your your body and your needs. How fun is that? For me, very. It's what's missing in much of knitting, I think. Perhaps if a knitter wants exact instructions on how to recreate exactly a certain sweater, to a tee, this book will not give those precise directions, and I respect how that might not work for all of us. But if you're a knitter who wants to have fun, to be turned back onto knitting again, to be encouraged to be creative, to be free, to be hooked into one's own needs, this book is for you. I heard once that knitting magazine and book editors don't want knitters to be creative because then you have less desperate need for their pattern books and magazines. The Kitty philosophy of knitting definitely puts the power back into the individual. I recommend it.

If I could only own one knitting book ( heaven forbid!) it would be this one!

I have been a fan of Kitty's for many years and when I saw this book I was immediatley interested. Now the mystery is solved as to where she got all those beautiful sweaters that she wore on her programs. I ordered the book as soon as it became available and have not been disappointed. I have been knitting for many years but only in small doses since I also quilt. Recently I have been really getting back into knitting and am amazed at the fabulous yarns and patterns available. I came from the old school,like Kitty talks about in her book, where sweaters were knit on small needles with thin yarn. Reading her book has opened up a whole new world to me, combining yarns and using larger needles. I am now collecting yarns that even a month ago I would have looked over as "trendy" or "too much". I see them now as a part of the bigger picture, a texture to be played with, a color to add sparkle. Her patterns, like she says, are basic, but classic and I don't see one of them that I wouldn't love to make and wear, especilly with all the possiblities opened up to me through this book. Thank you, Kitty for this book. I keep it next to my bed and am wearing it out looking at it and planning.

This book is QUITE REFRESHING, full of TRIM, FIT SWEATERS

Thank goodness for sweaters that are trim and fitted!!! Who needs more big, BIG, BIGGER sweaters? I own A LOT of kntting books, and it seems to me the sweaters are either too much like a big sack, or are teeny weeny little scraps where your belly hangs out. How REFRESHING to see a book with sweaters that would look good on average people! I want to look elegant in my sweaters, not like I'm hiding my light behind a bushel. If you read the thinking behind each sweater design (and I have) you start to get into the mode of creating your own designs. I mean, excuse me, but how many sweater designers actually encourage you to do your own thing? NOT MANY! GOSH, I just want a nice wardrobe of sweaters that look great on me. I crave that. But I must do that for myself. I can't just copy someone else's sweaters. That's why this book IS PERFECT FOR ME. It encourages my inner designer to come alive. HEY, THIS BOOK SHOULD BE CALLED: "AWAKEN YOUR INNER SWEATER DESIGNER". OK, so I just figured out part of my Christmas list. My MOM loves Kitty, my SISTER loves Kitty. My AUNT loves Kitty. And they are all knitters. SO, this is a GREAT ADDITION to MY KNITTING BOOK LIBRARY!

YES, YES, YES . . . SWEATERS THAT FIT, SWEATERS THAT FLATTER!

OH, THANK GOODNESS FOR A BOOK OF SWEATERS THAT FIT AND FLATTER! I DON'T KNOW ABOUT Y'ALL, BUT I'VE HAD ABOUT ENOUGH OF SWEATER PATTERN BOOKS OF SWEATERS THAT ARE SO BIG AND BOXY THEY COULD HIDE A HOUSE. AND SO MANY PONCHOS! I KNOW WHAT THOSE ARE FOR! I USED TO BE PRETTY OVERWEIGHT, BUT NOW I GO TO THE GYM EVERYDAY AND WALK MY DOG AND I AM LIKING MY FIGURE MORE ALL THE TIME. AND I'M 51! THIS BOOK HAS NICE SWEATERS THAT WILL FLATTER ME. PERSONALLY, I LIKE THE IDEA THAT I DON'T HAVE TO PUT THE SWEATERS TOGETHER MYSELF IF I DON'T WANT TO. ACTUALLY, I'M JUST NOT GOOD AT IT. IF YOU HAVE A GOOD FIGURE, OR LIKE THE FIGURE YOU HAVE, THESE SWEATERS SHOULD BE VERY ATTRACTIVE. THE MAIN IDEA IS TO CREATE SWEATERS THAT ARE RIGHT FOR YOU. I'LL BE TRYING SOME OF THE LONGER ONES FOR THOSE DAYS WHEN I FEEL LIKE EXTRA PROTECTION. SO, YES, I'M GETTING A LOT OUT OF THIS BOOK. ANOTHER THING I NOTICED IS THAT KITTY KNOWS HOW TO ACCESSORIZE SWEATERS. I'M STUDYING THE UNDERSHIRTS, THE SCARVES, THE EARRINGS AND OTHER ACCESSORIES THAT SET THE SWEATERS UP FOR MOST ATTRACTIVENESS. THIS BOOK GETS MY CREATIVE JUICES GOING, WHICH I LOVE. I ALSO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON YARNS, AND I DON'T WANT TO KNIT SOMETHING I COULD BUY AT A STORE. I WANT SOMETHING UNIQUE. I'D HEARD THAT KITTY HAS A BACKGROUND IN FASHION, AND THIS BOOK CERTAINLY DISPLAYS THAT WISDOM. IF YOU'RE NOT LOOKING FOR BIG BOXY GARMENTS TO HIDE IN (AND I SO WISH WE WOMEN DIDN'T FEEL THE NEED TO HIDE OUR BEAUTY, AS I DID FOR SO MANY YEARS IN MY YOUTH), I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THESE SWEATERS.
