Design of Electrical Installations in Home

This book is aimed at those who design electrical installations. It refers to the study of outlets and switches used in residential, commercial and industrial electrical installations. Electrical outlets, their characteristics, capacity and wiring are studied, as well as the relationship of the different types of outlets with electrical safety standards. The ground fault current interrupter (GFCI) is studied as well as its operation, wiring, limitations and types. Multiwire circuits are a topic of this book. Arc fault interrupter are mentioned. Likewise, based on basic concepts, the different types of switches (SPST, SPDT) are presented, describing their operation and their use in electrical installations. Pictorial diagrams of the wiring used to turn on luminaires from different locations in a residence or building are shown, using simple (single-pole), three-way, and four-way switches. Similarly it is established how outlets, switches and lighting should be placed in the rooms of a residence. The most common electrical equipment and devices in a residential unit are mentioned and indications are given on the distances that the outlets must maintain between each other and with respect to the furniture found in the different spaces of a home. This study takes into account both interior and exterior outlets to the residence.
