Desert Blooms (Roger Hammond)

Eight small nuclear warheads and four tanks of Russian VX nerve agent are stolen while on the way for disposal. Although the world is at peace, two men, one businessman and one cleric, hatch a decades old plot to elevate the Middle East to prominence in the world. The Russian government asks for help in finding those weapons and Fleet Admiral Roger Hammond, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has to lead the way. Suddenly an American ship is attacked with nerve agent and terrorist bombs go off across the United States. When one of the weapons is exploded in Syria, the United States is blamed and the Middle East explodes in fury. Hammond must not only find and reacquire the remaining weapons, but also bring in the ones who planned it. From a ship-to-ship sea battle to landing a force of Marine Raiders, the action is nonstop. Hammond also discovers the skills and talents of his son, Steven, who clearly demonstrates the love he has for his father, and dealing with his own coming of age.
