When Gloucester G.P., Reuben Sawyer, hears that a manor house he has long dreamt of owning, is set to go up for auction, he does everything in his power to win it, and win it, he does, much to the vitriol of a rival bidder. The acquisition of the manor, makes Reuben feel as if winning the bid has almost been a gift from God, but sadly, he is wrong, for it later transpires that what he has actually put his name to, is, in reality, closer to a deal with the devil, for long ago in 1643, in the bloody throes of the Siege of Gloucester, the imposing manor had been home to a truly vile specimen of humanity - a man with a dark, sordid past who took the name of Arthur DeMorte. And so, as the old place is restored, the upheaval inadvertently disturbs a slew of restless spirits, most of whom are desperate to move on, but not all, for one spirit in particular, is none other than that of DeMorte himself, who still considers the sin-soaked manor to be his own. Then, to add fuel to the fire, a fading, hedonistic celebrity with scant respect for spirits, mediums or psychic protection, comes to stay as part of a live, televised ghost hunt over the Halloween weekend - what could possibly go wrong?
