In 1597, fourteen years before the publication of the King James Bible, King James wrote and published Daemonologie, a philosophical monograph on the supernatural entities believed by King James to wander the earth. The book details a dialogue between Philomathes and Epistemon, two men who seek to uncover the truth of everything from demons to witchcraft through theological and philosophical discourse. These writings fueled the fires behind witch trials for years to come, and are even believed to have influenced Shakespeare's Macbeth. Originally written in Early Modern English, this version has been transliterated for the comfort of modern readers, providing the authentic Daemonologie experience.
Good read. Recommend you read with an open mind. Feel free to skip the preface. It's pretty much an attempt to discredit James 1st/6th while making money off his work at the same time. sad, and shame on the modern publishers. Preface is full of unfounded accusations against him. The actual context is based on confessions made during interviews/interrogations that he had a hand in. None of us were there so come to your own conclusions. Mostly warns against dabbling in the occult and why. Advise that is still relevant. Some reviews complain that they were lost at the mention of ware wolves; however, these same folks would likely never question a Native American on the existence of skinwalkers, so again, read and draw your own conclusions, and stay frosty
