Wonderful story!

I liked this book, despite the disjointed writing style. It was distracting, when one had to reread scenes to understand what had happened. That aside, It was a wonderful tale and Colin and Savi were a great couple. They are the total opposite to each other in every way and love is what binds them together. I loved Colin. Here's this stunningly beautiful, and absolutely vain creature who cares for nothing but himself and is not ashamed to admit it. And the only people he'd call friends are Lilith and Hugh from 'Demon Angel'. And then he meets the irrepressible and curious Savi, foster sister to Hugh, who changes his life after 200 years as a vampire... and he falls hard for her but alas they cannot be together. They cannot have eternity, because his blood will kill if he changes her and he, even though he doesn't want to, cannot be faithful to her because of the blood-lust that overcomes him when he has to feed. Colin cannot take what he needs from her on a daily basis, since she is human and would die. Savi loves him desperately and for both their sake she agrees to give Colin a month for them to be together. Only one thing she ask off him is that is that he be faithful to her during that time. The only way he can, is to drink animal blood. But even knowing this will weaken him, he accept, since he cannot bear to be without her. He hides his despair not knowing how he's going to let her go after a month. You feel their pain, knowing their time together is short. Theirs is an intense journey and I waited impatiently, hoping that they'd find a way to overcome this heart-wrenching problem. At times it seemed as if all is lost and there's no hope. When Savi is attacked by rogue vampires and then changed by a Nosferatu, their short time together abruptly comes to an end. This book made for riveting reading, and how they find their way to be together was so simple but yet the hardest thing to do.... a truly great story. A previous reader did not care for this type of book. Yes, this is a romance between a British-American and Indian-American. The author does not hide this fact at all! A pity you gave up so easily because you have a problem with this kind of pairing. You missed a great story! Yes, it was different because of the heroine's background, but it made for great reading. I enjoyed all of the Guardians books, but this has to be my favourite in this series thus far. Well done Meljean Brooks!

Demon Moon

Saviti (Savi) Murray has let her curiosity get her in trouble before but now it just might help her save a planeload of people. Savi knows that the best thing would be for her to get some outside help, and she sends out a computer message to the one person that might be able to arrange that, even if she doesn't' really like the guy all the time. Even with the promise of help, Savi also prepares a plan B because if she is going to go down - it's going to be with a fight. Colin Ames-Beaumont is a vampire, but because of how he was changed, not what you would call ordinary by any means. Colin has lived for two hundred years and anyone can still tell he was an aristocrat during his life. Not really interested in helping the vampire community rebuild itself, when Savi reaches out for help, Colin doesn't lose a second in replying. The nightmare flight is the beginning of Savi and Colin learning not only that demons and Wyrmwolves are escaping but they are also targeting them. With the help of the Guardians and the vampire community, both Savi and Colin fight to destroy the demon and Nosferatu out to gain access to the one place that could bring them power. Along the way, Savi and Colin learn that it's useless to fight their attraction and passion, however they have both been exposed to unusual circumstances in their lives. When faced with only problems, can Colin's determination and Savi's extreme intelligence help them discover the way for them to have forever together? Demon Moon deals with Colin and Savi's highly complex lives and just how they found a way to be together for eternity. Colin has been just going day by day until he meets Savi and then when she is placed in danger, Colin knows that he will risk it all to save her. Savi is highly intelligent and has a greatly developed curiosity that has gotten her in trouble before. When Savi and Colin are thrust together the swipes they take at each other reveal the passion and wants they have felt from the beginning. I felt the passion, love and needs they felt for the other and wondered with them if there was possibly a way. The special care Colin and Savi took for each other was heartwarming. Demon Moon is a highly complex book that deals with several plot themes all at once. While it is not a fast read, I found it to be a highly gripping one and well worth the time - especially with the ending Colin and Savi receive. Paranormal lovers will find Demon Moon as a must read and will probably get wrapped up in the Guardian's series if they have not been reading it. Jo reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Terrific job!

Meljean Brooks really impressed me with her first book. I loved how Lilith was edgy and different, and the hero Hugh contrasted her beautifully without being weak. Ms. Brooks continues with her strong hold on unusual characterization with her second book, coupled with excellent writing and a good quick pace. She doesn't go too far from either the hero or the heroine's point of view, either, keeping the storyline tightly focused where we want it to be. I really enjoyed her second book, and I'm looking forward to the next. The Guardian Michael, a secondary character throughout the first two books, might be a possible story? I hope so!

No sophomore slump here

Brook's second in the new Guardian series brings a fresh look at the tired vampire genre. Colin, a man so beautiful even men can't help but stare, is a 200 year old vampire. He was made by a nosferatu and therefore cannot exchange blood with other vampires, as is the standard in their society. Instead he goes out and feeds on humans. For vampires, blood and sex are inextricably intertwined. Savitri Murray is an intensely curious woman whose thirst for knowledge get her in trouble. When Colin and Savi were thrown together during a previous battle with Lucifer, they engaged in an intimate encounter which both regret and long to re-enact. Colin cannot have Savi for he cannot feed from her enough to survive. Savi cannot be turned because she was infected by Hellhound venom and the intermixing of the two bloods could kill her. Throw in a battle against the nosferatu, some vampire politics in which Colin has no interest and this is a smart read for paranormal romance fans. There was a wonderful mirroring between Colin's sister and her husband's marriage and Colin and Savi's decision on how they can be together. This book has all the elements of a great romance: strong, vibrant characters; rich and fully developed world building; hot, steamy love scenes; and an tender romantic ending.

Another Winner in this Scorching Demon Saga (A+ Grade)

Demon Moon is as complex and compelling as Brook's first book in this series. Where as in Demon Angel, we had the story of Heaven's Guardians and their evil counterparts the demons from Hell, this time we have vampires, demons and some humans along for this wild ride. The writing is so superior and should be read slowly and not rushed through. This is not some lighthearted romance, nor fluff. There were times I was so confused by what was being said and done that I had to do some major re-reading. But overall I became lost in the world of Colin, our vampire hero and his painful yet adoring love for Savitri, his ecclectic human heroine. There is so much action, gore and eroticism that this should not be label as a simple romance. This book is so much more. This love story, even if you can call it that is so sensual and erotic. Colin even though a vampire not by choice, likes his life. He doesn't brood too much, rather trying to seduce his woman to his way of life instead. He has a quirky sense of humor and his ego is massive. Savitri who is of Indian descent is his counterpart and brings him down a notch. When these two let loose together, watch out. They are partners and lovers to the up most degrees. I needed a fan at some points because their passion for each other was sizzling. If you read this book before reading Demon Angel, you will be confused. I would recommend you start with that then move onto this. An excellent fantasy tale in every sense!
