Since her pregnancy, he had kept all sick indentured servants working at the 1800's plantation away from her. They were confident the future had been changed when they went to Jamaica instead of Trinidad. Because of the prophecy she foretold; they didn't bring back indentured servants from the islands. The curse had to be broken.
