Margo couldn't be more excited to spend the summer in Savannah with her children. Kennan, her youngest had already prepared a list of things to do. Cherise was less enthusiastic; she started counting the days until their vacation was over before it started. Margo struggles with writers-block and is hoping that a new environment will improve her writing.
Margo's life is upended when Cherise goes missing.

She started going missing when she was thirteen years old, just for a night or two at a time at first. She would go to a friend's house and tell them that her mom said that it was OK if she spent the night or spent the weekend.
When she got older her nights away became more frequent. The last time she was picked-up, she got sent straight to DCFS.

Margo hired Randall to find her.
Randall resigned from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department and hung out his shingle as a private detective. This is his first case.
