This book is MUST reading for anyone with Parkinson's

When I borrowed this book from LSU's Parkinson's library, I was astounded to discover that this man was diagnosed with the disease at age 25; talk about 'early onset'(I was diagnosed at age 55 and thought that was young). He took me on the ride of my life as he told of his experiences with Parkinson's and the early symptoms that ravaged his well developed body. Mr. Scelta was by profession a personal trainer. Mr. Scelta made a firm decision that he was going to take charge of his Parkinson's instead of it taking charge of him, and has fought back the progression of the disease with a vengeance. Even now, at age 65, after 10 years of living with the disease and Deep Brain Stimulation, as well, my resolve is to take charge of the Parkinson's in my life. Mr. Scelta is a complete inspiration to me and I can't thank him enough.
Defying Despair

I thought the book was well written and explained the trials and tribulations this man went through. It's very true, if we don't show our pain and disabilities outwardly, people assume we have none. I am so glad he put it down in black and white what we need to do to get beyoud our pain and suffering. I think that sometimes we are so wrapped up in our own self-pity that we forget to call on our faith. Tony spelled it out for us ---- we need to stop the Pity Party and get F.I.T. Great book -- after reading it -- I feel as if I know the man personally.
