Deforestation: Environmental Impacts and Tax Implications

The richness of our heritage in natural resources are the pride of our country; every patriotic Congolese must become aware to promote the protection of it, we will thus contribute to the realization of the dream so much advocated by the former President MOBUTU who said: "When the scientists will have transformed the world into a purely artificial environment, that there is still in Zaire a last refuge of the man, a nature in the pure state". For being a great protector of the environment, he was even crowned "Commander of the Golden Arch" by the Prince of the Netherlands in August 1973, which title was the world's highest distinction in Nature Conservation. The Democratic Republic of Congo is a victim of a monstrous phenomenon that is due either to its own carelessness or to the deliberate will of its taxpayers. The resources that escape the Congolese public treasury, if they are collected in a rational way, they would contribute effectively to the development of our country. This loss we said, is due to the imprudence of the Congolese legislator when in the application of its rules we find certain faults or gaps.
