Truely a step back in time

This is one of the best books I have ever read. I found it very hard to put down, and the story telling was amazing. It was also a turn on to me since I am from Hillsborough. I absolutely loved reading this book and then be able to go into town and see exactly where things were. Truely a step back in time for me.

A beautiful story that brings history to life!

I began reading my copy of "Defending Hillsborough" the evening that I received it, and just could not put it down. I finished it at 5 A.M. the following morning, wanting more which I anxiously await in the sequel, "Reconstructing Hillsborough." Clarissa Thomasson has a 'feel' for bringing history to life.

Relive one family's experiences during the Civil War.

"Defending Hillsborough" is most enjoyable. The characters seemed so real that I felt among them, living the story. The wonderful surprise ending makes a perfect beginning for the sequel, "Reconstructing Hillsborough."

Historically educational as well as entertaining!

This was the type of book you don't want to put down because you have to see what happens next! I got very involved with the characters - the descriptions were so vivid! I felt I knew each character personally. I will definitely look forward to more books by Ms. Thomasson.

Excellent story about insite into a small community.

I found this book to be very realistic. It shows an excellent command of the Elglish language and a feeling for the people of Hillsborough.Makes you feel like you were there at that time.
