This is a sequel to Deadly Rainbows. Sean is living with his dad aboard the deep space exploration vessel, the Aurora. The Aurora has entered a region of space where the laws of physics have changed: light is a rainbow of colors, the principles of gravity have changed, and the shield polarity has shifted. The ship's food is spoiling at a much faster rate than normal, and the ship's engines are using up iridium at a much faster pace than normal. These problems have become familiar.
