Decoding the Spiritual Messages of Everyday Life: How Life Shows Us What We Need to Know

How can science help us develop our deeper spiritual potential? This unique approach to the question, from a trained psychiatrist, combines spirituality with key concepts from modern psychology to help us overcome challenges and become more perceptive, creative, and fulfilled. Dr. DeBell draws on such rational tools as cognitive-behavioral and Piaget developmental psychology to detect and decode feedback from the deeper dimensions in life. Contemporary, down-to-earth, and extremely practical, it shows how to bring spiritual intention to bear on daily routines and specific challenges, such as anxiety or depression. ?

Amazing journey into spiritual psychology

Finally there is an expert in psychology that takes the normally disregarded concept of "soul" into consideration. It is a groundbreaking and eye-opening book.

Unveiling The Meaning For Everyday Life Interactions!

I can not read enough of this book, every case and experiences that has been discussed throughout the book, is so tangible, so very truth. The content of the book is valuable in a way that to be taught in colleges and universities. I recommend this book to every one, specially those who are searching for the meaning of their interactions for everyday lifeDecoding the Spiritual Messages of Everyday Life: How Life Shows Us What We Need to Know.

Decoding the Spiritual Messages of Everyday Life

There are moments when the universe speaks to us: a feeling that something isn't right, a moment when we see ourselves in someone else's actions, or an incident that reminds us that we aren't being completely honest with ourselves. If we choose to listen to these messages we learn something about ourselves. In turn, our lives deepen and prosper. Decoding the Spiritual Messages of Everyday Life looks at the ways that the universe, God, the I Am, or however you define that higher part of ourselves provides a breadcrumb trail for us. Using accounts from real people, the author shows how little changes can make a huge difference in the lives of a single person. Essentially, by listening for subtle messages, these individuals were led to their spiritual selves, something more than living to make a dollar. Perhaps the most surprising message of this book is about common attitudes towards money. Many of us equate money with greed. Therefore, we assume to be spiritual, we have to live frugally. However, really it's all a matter of what you do with the resources you have, be that money or a special talent.

An Inclusive Method for Spiritual Growth

For people who have been "turned off" particular religions, but yearn for a spiritual connection, I highly recommend Decoding the Spiritual Messages of Everyday Life. DeBell's method does not belong exclusively to one religion or another but can be used by those of any religious belief or those who are not attached to any formal belief. This is a rare gift. I, personally, could be attracted by the teachings of religion, but always balked when to belong to one required denouncing all others. I did not believe that only Christians could be "right". But DeBell's book is not about spiritual principles. As his title states, it is a method of connecting spiritually by finding messages in our everyday lives. As I have begun to write my experiences at the website he provides, [...], I have been impressed by the difference writing them down makes. I realize that messages can be fleeting and easily lost. Writing them is a way of capturing and reflecting on them. I can also benefit from the messages I find in other's experiences shared on the site. At first I objected to the website and resisted writing my experiences there. After trying it I am convinced that it works to enhance the experience of decoding my messages. I encourage others to read the book and try out the website.

A Pleasant Surprise

I was attracted to this book because the author is a psychiatrist--and I am a psychologist. While psychology literally translates to "study of the soul" my experience has been that the majority of psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists neglect the soul. It certainly was not a subject taught in graduate school. Dr.Paul Debell is a psychiatrist who started to shift his ideas about spirituality--which he at one time regarded as "superstition"--when synchronous events occurred in his life--odd juxtapositions of thoughts followed by "coincidental" happenings that were related to those thoughts. I applaud his investigation into this arena and his useful ideas on helping people become more aware of how they may well be receiving spiritual messages that they have ignored. The book discusses how to tune into one's spiritual messages, the expansion of one's spiritual awareness, the role of spiritual "intention", and so forth. His book gets you thinking more about your spiritual purpose for being here and reminds us all that "bad" things in one's life often lead to spiritual growth. The author does not toss science away and in fact is well aware of the great importance of the scientific method. But subjective experiences also have great importance. Like Dr. Debell, I have had many amazing moments of synchronicity in my life and have become more conscious of spiritual messages. That is nothing new to this world. Contemplative prayer is often not just one-way but a dialogue. I believe the fields of psychiatry and psychology would be richer for incorporating Dr. Debell's ideas or at least entertaining them. The rigors of science are valuable as is left-brain thinking. But there is more to life than meets the eye and while spirituality may be a left brain concept, it is often a right brain happening.
